Hello everyone, I just received my reman. M/C and there is a screw with a little piece of metal holding the piston inside and I had that really silly question : should I remove it??? Thanks for your help! Marc |

If there's no clipring to hold the piston in, I'd leave it....... |

I've got several original M/C's and they all have the screw and little clip. It's to hold the piston from coming out. |

It's there to indicate that by buying a "remanufactured" master cylinder, ya done got screwed. |

Some of you might have seen my posts (I believe in "other" category) from the last couple weeks regarding a reman booster/master that I bought for my Fury? One of the 1st things I noticed between the reman M/C and the orig (which is back on the car, bolted to the reman booster and working well) was that in the forward chamber (controls rear brakes, "forward" means closest to front of car) the original MC had a Phillips head screw in the bottom of the fluid reservoir, next to the inlet hole that admits fluid into the M/C's chamber, that the reman did not; my 1st thought was part number consolidation knowing that this same M/C fit lots of years and models of cars; (the rebuilders always talk of "product improvement" in the reman process after all) now that the reman M/C is on the floor under the workbench and the orig one back on the car, I'm wondering if that had anything to do with my having to put the orig one back on there in the 1st place |
