Hello,

My new head gasket (Fel-Pro 7918 PT1) covers two water passage holes, one in the front of the block and one in the middle. Should I open these up before installing the head?

No!

If you allow water to exit the block at the front of the head much less water will flow down through the block and up into the cylinder head. Those holes are in the block primarily to allow casting sand removal.

Thank you!

I had a feeling it should not be modified... but I didn't want to put it together without being sure!

I'll let you know how it runs in a couple of hours.
