Got my Rockauto crank yesterday(10/10 sweet) and the question is the bearings that came with.Mains-EngineTech,made in Israel.Rods-ACL Duraglide, made in Australia.Anybody know anything about these? I'm just happy they're not made in China I'm thinking that the rod bearings should be ok as they're "Down Under" in the motor Thanks all. |

Personally, I like using the Clevite bearings. Haven't have much to do with the Engine Tech brand. We've seen quite a bit of the ACL's come through the shop and they don't seem to be too bad of a piece. Which ever brand you go with, you just have to be really be careful (since you've already got a ground crankshaft) that you get the right clearances for your application. Just my .02 |

Thanks Phil, last time I was into an engine this deep everything was TRW,PerfectCircle etc and made in US. I'm so darn paranoid of all the "Made in China" junk(not boat,to borrow from another member here) that I was supprised at origin of these pieces and not familiar with them at all. Its been awhile but yes I do know about PlastiGauge, just have to remember where I put it 20years ago, hummm, maybe its with the tubes for the B-78/15 biasply walnut shell snow tires |

Get some new stuff. It can harden over time and give false readings.
