Hello I am new to the whole slant 6 thing here. But I do need a transmission very bad. I am a poor college student looking for this transmission I can’t seem to find. I have a 1987 dodge 150d ram with the A-904. I blew it up to bad to work on. All the hard parts and other thing were to far damage to replace and rebuild. I was wondering if any one could help me find a list of other transmission that would fit and what cars they come in. I am hope to the wrecking yard to find what I need but don’t know what to look for. I just need my truck back bad. Then I will think in modifying the the motor??

Any help would be very much appreciated I don’t want to give up my truck.

If it's not lock-up you can use a slant six automatic from just about anything from 1968 onward.

Basically just find ANY slant six powered post-1968 chrysler/dodge/plymouth product with a slant six and an automatic transmission. Cars, trucks, or vans. The 904 was put in the vast majoirty of chrysler rear wheel drive automatic transmission equipped vehicles. There are a few oddballs out there that got 727s, mostly trucks and taxis, but they are pretty rare. 99.5% of the time if you find a slant six automatic transmission it is a 904. The closer to the end of the 80s you get the more likely you will find a transmission that is a lock-up tranny (for better mileage). Since you have a truck, you may want to try and find a transmission from a Dodge truck or van since they have a diferent first gear to allow faster/easier accelleration and potentially save gas, but any transmission will do.

You currently have a lock-up transmission, but you can swap it out for a non-lockup just by changing the transmission.

Cool thank you very much. You don’t even know how much I appreciate this. I am full time college student full time work and trying to build this truck and an other 10 sec car. I know Japanese’s cars very well and I am very much in the import seen but talk old school American cars I am lost.

Just a questions how much boost can the stock block handle on the slant???

At least 22 psi and 630 crank HP, 720 ft-lbs on stock block (dyno'ed) with stock rods and forged pistons. Cameron Tilley in Sydney, Australia. Not sure anyone knows the limit...

what about the head was it stock with like a cam or somthing. ??

No Cameron's cylinder head was well prepared. The cam doesn't go in the head, but down in the block and the cam was not stock either.

Lou (Dart270) was limiting his answer to the question you asked.
The answer is lots, but just putting a lot of boost into the manifold won't get you the power of Cameron's engine as it has the aforementioned ported head and hot cam.

Cool cool yeah I know cam is not in the head that was dumb of me to say. Well I thought I would ask any way I got a fat turbo doing nothing at my house looking for something to put it on. Does any one have conversion to injections? I thought maybe fining a stock map for a supra or something with a 6 and making a getto map off of it.

Any one got an idea how much it work it is to do that for this motor? And there ideas on how they ran some nice numbers
