You learn something new everyday!

I pulled apart 5 cores tonight and cataloged the stock springs so I have some OEM comparos for the super six, the feather duster, and the 1973-74 dizzy curves....

The odd ones out of the set were two that were tagged with the super six 3874876 number, and looked to be untouched... but they must be truck distributors as the primary spring had a short loop like the feather duster primary spring, the secondary spring was yellow with about 1/8" more loops than the car version... the governor is a 13R (not the 9R I would have expected), and the vacc. pod had the arm marked as an 8.5....

do the Mopar Manuals on CD include the 'Truck' manuals? could someone confirm the curve from the section 8 electrical manual to see if mopar indeed used the same tag number for trucks and cars, but changed the guts from trucks to cars... I just find this to be a bit odd for coincidence... this will be the third 13R style dizzy I have pulled apart (and that one came from a 1978 van, 1 barrel 225)...

My 1980 D150 SL6, 1bbl truck came with the 3874876 distributor. It had a 9R governor and a 9R pod. The springs were green (primary) and red/orange secondary. The secondary loop engaged before the end of governor travel. You could never get to 32* with the initial timing at 12* and full governor travel. The FSM has all the specs for the distro.
