the next time it stalls pull the plugs and see if they show signs of fouling from too much fuel,could be a internal fuel leak flooding the engine, faulty needle valve or fuel pressure going to high. |

hi have you checked the coil i had the same problem about a year ago in the garage it ran fine after i drove about 3to4 miles it would run rough like the timeing out then it would not start .then try again about 1 hour later it would start like nothing is wrong good luck.. |

Ya know I had a similar situation with my 79 D 100; got off work, came home, truck started great/ran great to get me home from work; showered ate and told Mom&Dad "see ya later" (I was going to my g/f's house (she's now my wife) Went out, tried to start, nothing. Cranked like gangbusters. WTF? It was just running fine 45 minutes ago; this was several years ago when I had that truck; grind and grind and grind on the starter and.... still nothing. was jumping the starter at the relay by now from under the hood so i could look down the carb, etc. while cranking. Ground the starter to death. changed the starter. By now getting dark, heard an electrical "snap", and the engine sputtered. I then bumped the coil wire by accident, got shocked, watched as a spark jumped along the coil wire to the upper rad hose (would never have believed that one had I not seen it myself) so I moved the coil wire away from the rad hose and it started as if nothing was wrong! i've seen "leaking" plug wires before, from wire to wire or from plug wire to valve cover (or block) but NEVER from a wire to a rubber hose! |

Rock, I went to race track a couple of weeks ago and had the same experience. It was embarrassing........I checked everything over a few times. It was super hot out, about 90 degrees. The problem was the float level was too high and after I lowered it has been purring like a happy cat.  Don't ask me how the float level changed, but it did......
