Custom clutch disc and a different driveshaft yoke at a minimum unless Richmond has started making Mopar splined output shafts. Does the input bearing retainer diameter match your bellhousing? Does the trans occupy the same space in the tunnel or will you have to cut the transmission crossmember? I have a feeling you have to cut the crossmember an an A-body. Call Richmond and get answers. |

Right, but the Richmond gearbox is much larger than the A833. You will likely have to do some cutting and welding of the transmission crossmember to fit the trans under the floor. Call Richmond Gear and ask if the 6-speed fits an A-body. |

This might be helpful: http://www.richmondgear.com/07pdfs/RG21.pdf Its lists the dimensions and other specs for the mopar setup but still have a lot of info to gather to see if you can make it work. Sounds cool though! MJ |

Years ago I helped a friend put a Richmond 5 speed into a 67 Barracuda, that took major floor and cross-member cutting and re-welding to install, but it worked good when completed. As for the clutch, that will be the least of your worries, a custom made disc will put any spline count into any size disc. If you do some cross-ref. homework, there may-be a disc already available that will work. DD |

I have a 5 speed in my car. On a scale of 10 it was a 3.....once I figured it out. For reference I rate a disc brake swap on an early A as a 3 ...... The dimensions of the 6 speed make the project an 8. Essentially you would need to think in terms of a tube frame and completely new torsion bar mounts. The floor would change to the point you would need new seat mounts/seats. A 5 speed wont do you?....or mebbe a 4 speed? |

Yes, an "8" is about right. You are modifing the structure of the car's chassis with this install, it needs to be done carefully and done right or you will 'bend' the car forever |

to fit a tremec five speed you have to cut the floor tunnel out from the torsion bar crossmember to the firewall, or at least i will. the shifter will come out in the middle. also part of the crossmember will need to be cut out. if you go to www.classicmopar5speed.com you can see the kit that i have and will be using. the crossmember they install is a two piece design that, once installed, only the bottom piece need to be removed to remove the tranny. any way you look at it, it's going to be a lot of work to put a 5 or 6 speed in. zedpapa |

The reason I rate my swap as a 3 is because I did not have to cut my floor except for the shifter. I did have to modify my trans crossmember extensively. This is the hardest part of the swap. |
