Kicking around the the idea of buying a running slant six and 904 trans out of a 69 (I think it is) Dart. On the surface this engine is clean: it has an Edelbrock Performer carb (I believe it's a 1406 which is the 600cfm, it's bigger than needed but it runs great) the Offenhauser intake, tri-y aluminum coated header, comes with the 2 1/2" exhaust pipe (newish) and a glasspack to boot!....also the converter, kickdown linkage, throttle plate bracket, springs,etc.
The guy bought the car with all engine work previously done, no idea what mods have been done. Hopefully I'll pull the valve cover and check the valve lift to get a rough idea what kind of lift the cam has, and do a compression check. Motor sounds good, smooth, no smoke etc......aside from all the usual things to be aware of and weary of, the guy wants it out and gone so he can drop in a V8....he wants $700 for the whole set-up.
That seem like a good deal or no?
