Post subject: | Water leaking from manifold studs |
Thought I'd fire-up the motor for the first time today, but no luck. After filling all the fluids, I saw something dripping under the car. It was water coming from the head, not the head gasket, but from the manifold studs. I followed the instructions in the repair books (Chilton's and Dodge Service Manual). We just tightened them to 10 ft/lbs. Did I forget something? Was I supposed to put sealant on them? I pulled the manifolds back off and removed the studs. Any advice on what to do to keep this from happening again? Thanks! benwa23@hotmail.com |

You can put sealant on the studs before installing them and that will usually stop it. I personally think most people get so mad that they forgot to put the sealer on them they just let them rust themselves shut ![]() My Mopar Site Mark71GTX@hotmail.com |
