Post subject:  Hmmm...late truck bellhousings....

Today I helped a friend move out of his house in Portland, and down to his new house and life in Corvallis. I had a few minutes to blow so I stopped by Ram Light Truck on Columbia (if I had more time, I'd probably have stopped by Rose Auto Wrecking too as like a sightseeing tour...)

Anyhow, I picked up a low mount starter 11" clutch bellhousing from a 1979 D200 Truck... after looking things over... it's not as long from the mounting face to the tranny face as the 60's versions, it's also a bit lighter... it's almost like the 60's versions are cast with an integral 'adaptor plate' like the A-727 plates...

Just thought it would be something to share that people haven't gone down this rabbit hole yet...

now to find a chunk of aluminium at the salvage yard and working up a plate...

Happen to notice which starter was used with that '79 11" clutch setup?

Post subject:  Two bolt

The early one had the 3 bolt starter... got that boat anchor somewhere in the 'pile'...

The later one looks to only have two bolt holes like the reduction starters.
The bell didn't have the starter or bolts for it.

I have one of those bellhousings. Uses the standard starter. Mine is only drilled for a 3 speed or the truck 4 speed. An A833 will not bolt on. There may be clearence issues with an abody.
