Found a '75-ish 318 Swinger in the local you-pick yard. Has the t-bars still... aren't they .870 or .890? I know it's not a huge change, but similar bars made a difference in my wife's prev '64 Dart and i figure they're better than spending $300 on MP bars.

The stock slant six and base 318 bar's are the same from 1973-1976 the 890/891 bar... these are the same size as the small block V-8 bar up to 1972... if the Dart has a 318 and A/C, then it was optioned for the same bar the 340/360 cars got (892/893), these are a nice step up if using other suspension upgrades (my duster sure liked them over it's 'stock' bars).

Good hunting,

They would be .850" (low perf V8) or .870" (high perf V8, AC V8, handling package). .890" bars were only used on big block a-bodies.

If you get lucky and win the wrecking yard lottery... A-body Taxi and Cop car bars are the only other option that year ( so a nice stiff .94 T-bar...)

I don't know the cutoff year, but they used 0.830" in base Darts and Valiants w/o AC and other bells/whistles up to 1970 or so? All of my cars have had those.

0.850" would be standard on the '75, I believe, and 0.870" the upgrade as others have said. Easy to measure with a dial caliper.

Thanks guys. The '64 Valiant has the weedy .830, i think? Anyway I'll try to head over there on my lunch break and pull them.

DI - I don't believe I've ever seen an A-body taxi or cop car, on the road, in a car show or in a junkyard... Were they sold in all US regions?

Got 'em. Turns out the car had AC, they're the .870" #892/893 bars $40 seemed a little high for a junkyard price but it sure beats the price of aftermarket ones these days.
