After telling me that motor mounts for my '64 Valiant were available, they turned out to be the wrong ones. They are for a V8, so apparently the Car Quest catalog is wrong. The parts they had were Anchor, and the catalog showed p/n 2234 and 2235. They could not find anything with the Sealed Power p/n's 270-2304 and 270-2303. Does anyone have any further info that might clear up the confusion? lancer_41@excite.com |

I checked for these mounts in the Federal-Mogul/Sealed Power warehouses and found we have 6 of the 270-2303 in stock while the 270-2304 has been discontinued. Sealed-Power buys their engine mounts from Anchor. If you let me know where you are located then I can possibly find a warehouse in your area that can get the parts for you. joel_harris@fmo.com |

The V8 mount is about 1/2" thinner and different shaped, although it looks like the mounting holes are the same. Even if I could get the V8 mounts to fit, they would allow the distributor and oil pump to hit the frame. lancer_41@excite.com |

Thanks, Joel. I live near Denton, Texas, and everything comes out of either Dallas or Fort Worth. Quote:

I've been looking for mounts for my 65 valiant for a couple of weeks now. The Kragan here at first said they could get them. Then the gave up on one but said they had the other. I picked up the one they had today and haven't had a chance to compare it to my car. The number on the Anchor box is 2276. I bet it's the wrong one. I have a couple of questions. 1. Where can we get these things? 2. If they're gone, how do we adapt other mounts to work? 3. How many of us will it take to get someone to make some? Mike MAndreas@aol.com |

You know, that might explain the why my slant leans too much, and basically rests on the K-member. I don't remember whose motor mounts I used, though. Hmmm... I love this forum! dobie79423@yahoo.com |

: After telling me that motor mounts for my '64 : Valiant were available Yeah, '62-'66 A-body Slant-6 mounts have been getting dicy to find for years now. I guess they're finally gone. (And the ones that have been available for the past 5 or 6 years have been Taiwanese). Remember that these cars are much more popular and prestigious in Australia than they are here. This stuff is still available down there through specialists. I struck out with Dick Smith. The oldest he had was 1970. I did find a possible source in a company that buys out old inventory. If I can be absolutely sure of the part numbers, I would be inclined to buy his entire stock. I had CarQuest run a check on p'n/s 2276 and 2277. Only 2277 had an equivalent part listed. It was 31-2316, but it was for a later model Coronet. The more I hear, the more confused I get! lancer_41@excite.com |

Thanks for the links, Dan! If I strike out here, I'll give them a call. I wonder if there are any import/export problems buying from Australia? BTW, I want to upgrade my interior and exterior lights. Do you have anything put together with part numbers and mods required to improve older car lighting? lancer_41@excite.com |

Looks like it's time for some reproduction specialists to get into this one. I'll keep everyone informed about what I find out. lancer_41@excite.com |

Check it out. Laysons lists the mounts. They're kind of pricey but they list them laysons Engine Parts MAndreas@aol.com |

Gary, give the parts guy at Dick Smith the Sealed Power part number 270-2303 and see if they can special order it for you. I show that we have 1 in our Dallas warehouse. There are 5 others in different locations in the country. They could order all of them if you ask. joel_harris@fmo.com |
