So this weekend I'm going over the 8 1/4" rear I got from Oldsarge.

It lacks all the brake hardware, but according to the parts list for a '76... all the 10" brake hardware from the late 7 1/4" rear with 10" drums will just be a direct swap....

Now oddly, the 8 1/4" in my duster and the one from my 1974 duster had a 'vented' bolt holding down the brake lines on the driver's side axle tube... no one seems to stock these over the counter anymore... but it looks like several mopar aftermarket sources have the version for the 8 3/4" axles... 4032798 (this bolt is not shown in my parts catalogs, either...)

Another interesting 'find', is I need the rubber 'wedge'/bumper for the stock pinion snubber... and oddly... the pinion snubber is not shown as part of section 3 'Rear Axle' in the parts catalog, nor is there any mention of the 'bumper' in the index/cross reference....

Looks like I might have to steal both off a 'late' model 8 1/4" if the wreckng yards still has an old 5th ave. or something....

Hopefully that info might help someone who might need these parts later if they are reconditioning a junkyard acquisition....

I got a bag full of the vent/bolts from Doctor Diff on Moparts. They weren't real expensive. :D

My A-body 8 1/4 vents from the differential housing through a steel tube that ends under a little cover welded to the axle tube. I had to pry the cap off the vent bolt of my road race Dart's 8 3/4 and put a hose on it to keep gear oil off my left side leaf springs.

I already knew about the brake parts interchange. My A-body 8 3/4 got brakes from an F-body 7 1/4 when I put in BBP axles.
