I'm Corey, aka sasktrini on CarDomain and other forums.
I am a comp programmer, but have gotten into restoring vans over the last 6 or so years, as my first van was ideal for hauling music gear and stuff around. I bought a Lincoln Electric welder when carpentry skills weren't giving me what I wanted in customizing an interior. As well, I'm comfortable wrenching, but rust repair always scared me.
I recently finished my rust repair tutelage on an 85 Chev Cavalier (selling) and my 85 Chev 3/4 ton van. Starting to go into Vintage Vans (so very rare and underappreciated), I bought a '64 Ford Econoline Falcon van (window type) in May, and just this weekend, I just rescued a 1968 Fargo A100 Sport Van that was begging me to restore it.
Where I found it being "stored", in a huge puddle! It's home now, and not too bad... water level seemed to mostly be at the tires, but I feared the axle bearings would be all seized up. I think it's mostly the brake hardware that was damaged, but that would be tossed anyway!
It's my FIRST MOPAR! The Ford Falcon Six is very sturdy, but I'm eager to bring this 225 Slant-6 back to life, with it's strength and power being legendary!
The ford is 3-on-the-tree with a lighter axle, but the Fargo has the A727 and a heavy duty 8 3/4" rear axle... I'm looking forward to this!
So here I am, very new to both vintage vehicles and Mopar all together, and eager to learn!
I'd like to hear from other Dodge / Fargo A100-A108 pickup/van owners and restorers too! All the help I can get... cheers!
