Since school is in session again, I haven't had any time to work on the motor, save for today. The motor is all put together save for a few accessories. The question I have is how do I install the distributor to ensure that it is in there correctly? Do I do something along the lines of this: bring any one of the pistons to TDC and put the distributor in so that the rotor is just approaching the corresponding cap contact?

Going to try and put the motor in this next weekend if all goes well.

The best way to get used to doing while the engine is in the bay... is to roll #1 up to TDC... then install the dizzy with the rotor facing the #1 cap post... (it's an easy one since it's really close to the cap locating tab... you can also check to make sure once at TDC to see if the reluctor tooth is on the pickup tooth too...)...

If you know your timing tab is spot on... now is the time to roll the crank back to 5BTDC, and place the dizzy ... that will be a good start, then once the engine is properly run in, dial the carb and timing in and you're good to go.
