Ive been reading all the electrical problems here and I sounds like I have the same problem. I have an 81 with Clifford intake and headers. I have an edelbrock 500 cfm carb. I didnt know what to do with the computer on the air cleaner so I broke it of and shoved it in a corner of the truck because it has to be plugged in to run. I recently started having problems with it back fireing out of the carb as soon as I hit the gas, but it would idle fine, so I replaced the 600 cfm with the 500 I have now, and now the truck will not start at all. I think its a spark problem.

Welcome on the board.

Er...what "all the electrical problems" have you been reading that you think might apply to your situation? There hasn't been any particular glut of electrical issues lately, and those electrical problems that have been discussed are a wide mix of specifics.

Hey Dan,
I think he is talking about the computer, and it sounds like he still has it plugged in, but has a different carb on it. He also might still have the original dual pickup dizzy in it. That may be the root of his problem.

Dave

It sounds like he's partially removed the Lean Burn system. This article explains the correct way to remove it fully:
