| Post subject: | gaskets/O-rings source |
In my next round of repairs on my 87 b150 /6 I'll be eliminating the last of the oil leaks (timing set/gasket/front seal, pan gasket, rear main seal, oil pump gaskets). Armed with the collected wisdom of this forum, I have a fairly clear idea of how to proceed with the engine in the vehicle (although most ereforementioned wisdom would advise pulling the engine). It occurs to me that there are two (potential) leak sources that I have no good idea how to address: the oil fill tube gasket and the dipstick tube O-ring (gasket?). I suppose I could buy an aftermarket oil cap for any non-van /6, grab the gasket, and toss the cap, and take my chances pulling the dipstick tube and matching the O-ring by eye (assuming it's a ring and not a gasket). Of course buying a full engine gasket set would probably address both issues, and provide all the gaskets for the list above, but most of the cost of such a set would be the head gaskets, which I don't need (and if the head ever comes off, the whole engine is getting pulled, tanked, rebuilt and painted, so a whole other gasket set would be in order anyway.) Anybody know where I can buy these two parts without buying extra stuff to throw away? |
