After feeling some looseness in my Barracuda, I checked the steering coupling. After looking at it, and studying this, I realized that Ma overengineered the heck out of the steering coupling. Ford and Chevy would use a simple "rag joint" most of the time, but Mopar made this coupling like a swiss watch.

The good news is that it is pretty easy to fix, but I do wonder why they overthought even this item.

I disassembled mine and put it back together. it was still in great shape. very bullet proof and looks better then a ford or chevy rag joint

Just out of curiosity, did you buy a kit for yours? I know I have quite a bit of play in my coupler and thought about just swapping it out with one that I have on the shelf but I heard you can order some sort of kit. Just wondering what the part # might be for a '64 A-body.

Just go to a dodge dealer, and ask for 4443436AC. The previously mentioned website says that the springy clip won't fit an early A body, but with a little help from a vice grip, mine fit just fine.
