I want to know if this is possible. I am thinking about getting that weber setup on www.prolinefeul.com ( my friend bought it, never used it, so i get cheap). I would really like to keep my mechanical linkage if at all possible. Can this be done?

keep my mechanical linkage Can this be done?

I just purchased a Proline setup for the 2 bbl conversion and I am having a devil of a time figuring out how to do the linkage. I was hoping to see some responses to your post. Since none have come for several days now I am wondering if this is a major problem, that the mechanical linkage can't be worked out for the Proline. Also, mine is a 66 Dart 270 and the conversion plate ends up with the carb air cleaner just about touching the hood, sitting in the hood insulation. I am not so sure this is a good setup for early A bodies with mechanical linkage. I am thinking about sending my Proline setup back. The linkage might be more easily done with a super six manifold, but then you have to find the new intake with the 2 bbl slot and really wouldn't need the conversion kit. From the Proline internet site, it looks more doable with cable controls that are on later models.

I found some photos on a couple of these set-ups, both look like they use the cable linkage system and a "link bar" between the two carbs. using a 65-66 A-Body (V8 or SL6 AC) would keep the peddle you have but get you the cable.

I have made mechanical throttle & kickdown linkage for many differnt SL6 set-ups, including the mechanical set-up to the Hyper-Pak, it can be done but it would be all custom fabbed and it would use a "bellcrank to change the "side to side" rotation of the current 1 bbl linkage to a "front to back" movement. Go look at the Hyper-Pak linkage article and ask some more questions.
Anyone else need this set-up? Let me know and someone should flag Chris(?) at Proline to "jump-in", if there is enough interest, we can get a design made-up and posted.

The weber set up i was talking about was the single carb with adapter to the 1 barrel manifold. But, i have rethinked this idea and am leading towards a hyperpak setup(manifold, carb, cam, header). would the linkage be easier to do with this since they used a mechanical linkage at thef factory?

Anyway you go, this will be "custom made" linkage. There are simple no well engineered kits available for any of these special manifolds. Even if you could find the factory original H.-Pak
linkage, it would need custom work to fit on a "tall block" 225 (Hyper-Paks were made for 170s) and there was never any auto. trans kickdown linkage. (for manual tran. only)

Do not worry, this type of linkage is not that hard to make. Most every racer on this message board has had to do it.

Don't let the linkage issue decide which intake you will use. Pick the intake to fit your combo. and intended use then "fab-up" the linkage you need for that intake.
