Just wanted to let you all know about some of my initial findings on parts I'm acquiring for my A100 Slant two barrel/power building transformation. I bought a Rock Auto rebuilt Carter BBD (Autoline) spec'd for a 70 318 recently, among other various bits and pieces (Ebay NOS Mopar exhaust manifold, for one...very nice, just as Dan stated, and parts to modify the 1 barrel intake) This has got to be the best looking rebuilt carb I've ever seen! It looks like it was restored, lots of new fittings, cadmium replating through out...including all linkage, new brass fittings, idle screws, springs, etc. Wow, I've never seen any rebuilt carb that looked this good. We all know what you get at Autozone and the like. I'll get a few pics of it up asap, I'm just hoping that it works right out of the box , as good as it looks. Anyone dealt with these carbs from Autoline? From their site they state that the throttle shaft play (on all carbs) is checked and any that are outside tolerance are corrected(bushed)or scrapped. Seems there's some play....I'll assume it is within tolerance...if it runs like crap I'll send it back! Really looks like a nice piece anyways. Fingers crossed

Very interesting you should post this — the '64 Dart I just bought has a recently-installed carburetor rebuilt by Autoline in Winnipeg, MB, Canada. My reaction was same as yours: best-looking rebuilt/remanufactured carburetor I've ever seen, bar none. It hasn't been sandblasted, the protective coating on the castings was either left alone or reapplied, the idle mixture needles appear new, the throttle shaft is rebushed with bronze, and the carb seems to run well (pending idle mixture adjustment; we'll see if/how it smooths out) — and this from a carburetor bought thru a parts store! Has a metal "Autoline" tag on it. I made a note to myself to check into this Autoline outfit when I get back to Canada.

Here's a direct link to their carb rebuilding process:

It was listed for $99 + $15 core charge + about $10 for Fed Ex shipping=
$124 total

Problem is, it was the last one (for a 1970 Dodge D100 318 auto) Rock Auto listed available for that year. The Autoline is no longer listed, BUT, they have 1-2 Autoline BBD's left for various years (71-75)..... as I just checked. Now they show carbs from United Reman I believe the name was...and for much more $$$ I assume they are'nt carrying them anymore? Wonder who else might carry them?

I wish I could install it asap and give feedback, might be a good option for others if it pans out, but I've got a week at the Outer Banks (with the van I might add!) so it will be a couple weeks before I can get to it. Will keep you posted.. fingers still crossed :D

So shipping the core back is probably a wash (I'd bet it's closer to $15 for you to ship it............)

Might as well keep the core.........

PM me your address. I am sure I can dig up an extra. I will send you one. This is a "pay it forward' situation like Slantzilla did for me.

Let's not get too excited just yet — I have seen plenty of nice-looking carburetors that wouldn't run worth poo. It's promising that they look carefully built, but let's give it some time and see how they run at first and after awhile, eh?

Nothing like getting all giddy over a snazzy carburetor?!!! No telling how it will perform, could end up running like horse squeeze! Getting it mounted and hooked up properly is the biggest issue. I gotta fab the throttle linkage somewhat. I'm not doing it the way the article shows.....I won't be cutting the shafts and adding the 1 barrel portion. Instead, I'll use the carb as is (AND, I can return it if it's crap) and make linkage. Gotta butch a 1 barrel intake and fit this adapter so no leaks...... among other detail work like connecting the choke.
Will post results when sorted. :D
