My daughter bought this car for $900 5 years ago.

The interior had that cool old car smell to it, and I really didn't want to change that smell. But she wanted it done. So we got new carpet and upholstery, and dash cover. And added shoulder seat belts for her. She called the car Dobie, after Dobie Gillis.

She sold the car to me, and I put the new rims on there.

I have since built up the engine some. I love this car.

Very nice car; it's good to see people appreciating and maintaining these old cars.

Post subject:  New Photos

I've done some work on the engine, as you will see with these photos. Remember, when my daughter bought this car, it was rather rough around the edges. First off, the body work still needs to be done. And these newer photos of the engine don't show the finished work. Since then I cut the heater hoses to match up better, etc...

But here is how the engine looked when we bought it a few years back:

And now with the KILLER BEES paint job:

Again, a before shot:

And now with this shot, you can see the Dutra split manifold, and super six setup. That's the Holley 350 CFM. The car now has oversized valves as well.

Next, I do some more painting under the hood. The firewall, and fenders, etc...... In white of course.

Still making some progress.

Wow! Excellent work in the engine compartment!

I appriciate your approach. An old car should look and feel like an old car, but the mechanical side works like a Swiss clock.

Hope that runs for next 40-50 years. Good luck with the project!

Beautiful upgrades. It's funny because most of my friends cars (and mine) are a little "rough around the edges" but our engine compartments are immaculate. I think our priorities are in order. Now what say you deal with those "widow maker" brakes. :D

Thanks. Will have an update in about another month. It will show my headers setup. Tomorrow I am pulling the engine, and may put in a different sized cam. But will clean up under the hood better, since the engine will be out.

As was mentioned earlier change out single pot master cylinder for dual pot master cylinder.

I thought the remark about the widow maker brakes meant get rid of the drum brakes in the front. But I like your suggestion. After this project, I will look around for one. Thanks Richard.
