I am going nuts trying to find this thing. I have a 68 dart. I cant find the regulator by reaching under the dash, so i tried to take the dash out. But, I cant get the speedo cable unscrewed from the speedo, and the gauges won't come out. Any help would be great.

The cable doesn't unscrew, you just squeeze the cable end going into the speedo back and a little clip (looks like a fish hook) will let loose and allow you to pull the cable out.

FYI, I have seen some Darts with the same instrument cluster as the 67-69 Barracuda's. That is, Two large round pods, one for the speedo and one for the fuel/amp/temp/oil. And, a smaller one inbetween for the tach. If you have this cluster the instrument voltage regulator is integrated into the gas gauge, that is, there is not a separate IVR on the panel.

You don't need pliers, just squeeze with your fingers.
