I was going to say fusible link or maybe a loose connection/corossion in the fusible link connection....but changed my mind after you said the battery was .5 volts, then the car started up fine later on....I don't know, could still be.

Were you checking battery voltage right at the posts, or on the wiring terminals? This sounds like a classic case of a bad battery connection.

i just took my car to Kragen to get my alternator and battery checked and it turns out my alternator is bad. its fine when i have my lights radio and heater off but when there on it starts sucking the battery dry. because the night before this incident happened it was night and it was raining so i had my windshield wipers on my radio my lights and heater on and when i got to low RPM's it wanted to die.

check your battery clamps. clean them up. check the battery cable connections, including where they attach to the battery clamps. remove any rust or corrosion with a wire brush.

this thread needs to be moved to the electrical section
