Can we assume you're running a 4bbl? It it oriented N-S or E-W? If the carb is mounted with the primaries toward the front of the car a nitrous plate under that carb is going to spray a lot of N2O and fuel on the outside wall of the plenum.

For my '67 Valiant I'm running my 390 Holley's primaries toward the driver's side on an Offy manifold. The distribution appears to be pretty good oriented this way. When I had the carb this way on an unheated Clifford manifold the end cylinders were rich er than the middle cylinders. The next car is getting a Clifford manifold with a plenum divider and nitrous. I may try the primaries toward the passenger's side. I'll need a longer throttle cable, but this will rotate the Edelbrock carb so the fuel inlet is to the driver's side where the factory fuel lines end on this chassis.

99% of the time a plate will meet your needs.

Carb orientation is basically irrelevant.
