OK another fiction or not question Is it true that you can use a RB damper on a slant? apparently the crank nose an those V8's and the slant is the same |

Also, the pulleys will not line up. |

I would try to get a Romac Slant 6 balancer from Oz. Nice unit, not too expensive, and endorsed by Cameron Tilley... Lou |

bb dampers work but you have to change the timing cover seal to a bb seal and with the belt groove have one machined into the thick part of the damper and you can use the stock belt locations |

Do all slants come with dampers? Mine is a '74 I didn't think it had one but I could be wrong. What is the advantage of adding one if it dosent? |

All engines have vibration dampers, including all slant-6s, including your '74. It is integral with the crankshaft pulley. |

WHY I asked this question - 1 RB dampers are easy to get over here slanties not 2 I was wondering how to eliminate the dreaded outer ring slip This said - the romac units are nice Just wonder which will be best - the steel or ally outer ring |

There's no need to eliminate the inner-hub/outer-ring construction. They work fine for decades! |

Thanks Dan, sometimes its better to ask the dumb questions than to remain ignorant. |

As long as we're talkin dampers,Hows come my 80&83 truck slants have such a BIG weight compared to others I see?Does that have to do with the lighter crank(13-14# less)? If so what happens when swapping older/newer balancers on older/newer cranks?Just another question that keeps me awake at night ![]() ![]() |

I have a cast crank engine with a standard damper on it.. I suppose it is possible that since yours is a truck engine, that they put maybe a V8 damper on there? ~THOR~ |

No. Slant-6 engines always and only got slant-6 dampers. V8 engines always and only got V8 dampers. |
