hey i was checking out performance parts for slants and i found this http://www.impulsengine.com/index.shtml peitty neat i emailed them and they do have stage 1-3 setups for the slant with promiseing results heres the email "We can do the NPS stage 1 cam and ignition timing for the 225 which is the same cam used for stage 1-6. Stage 3-7 should be ready late next year. The std 225 produces 215 lbs/ft and 145hp at 4000rpm. The NPS cam will produce 310 lbs/ft from 1500-3000rpm and 200hp at 4000rpm with headers or 190hp with std exhaust manifold, increase fuel mileage by 20-30%, idle smooth at 500rpm and run on low octane E10 fuel. Keep in mind the increase in low rpm torque is equal to a gain of 100hp at high rpm, therefore the 225 will be a lot more powerful than a 200hp engine. The cam and recurving your dizzy will cost about $500. You'll need to get the lifters, double row timing chain, a mechanic to degree the cam into the correct position and retune the carby with smaller jets. Let us know if you're interested" so has enyone tryed it or been interested l did some math and it would cut the price of my 225 engine build in half with better performance what do yall think thanks josh |

I smell $#!+.... We are going to make 190hp with the stock exhaust manifold? |

What do I think? I think I see a lot of yummy claims...a lot of juicy big performance numbers...a great deal of enthusiastic language... ...and absolutely zero data. Do I want it to be all for real? Sure. But without real, verifiable data, it's just more handwaving and hype. |

If i understand this correctly, according to above post; the cam allows the exhaust valve to stay open longer, therefore expelling more gas. The headers aid in this. That process is indeed the negative pressure supercharging or whatever. Groovy But isn't incoming air regulated at the throttle body? So whether there's negative pressure or not, the throttle body only lets so much air through. |

Boy, I don't know. I'd like to see some independent dino charts on this one, but for now I think I might throw the BS Flag. Never seen radical changes in valve timing, without some effect on driveability. |

Yeah, "BS flag" pretty much covers it. Let's see here, we're going to take a 318 Chrysler V8, throw $12,000 at it, wave our hands and make up a bunch of acronyms, then claim to make six hundred lb-ft of torque and three and a half hundred horsepower all while getting markedly better fuel economy...but the units we're going to use to describe the difference include such highly technical terms as "neck-snapping acceleration"? Sheesh. (...and it idles dead-smooth at 500 rpm, and the engine runs extra hot while the coolant runs extra cold, and it'll rev freely to 8 krpm, and it'll make your morning coffee taste better...) |

YUP here we go again - reticulated Python oil - finest-kind, from the largest snake NO such thing as a free lunch! Well lemme see - erson rv cam, headers/dual Dutras dual exhaust with x pipe, gas flowed head with bigger valves, 9.3cr Long ram police manifold 2 36 dcd Webers THEORETICALLY 230BHP @5500 317lbft@ 2500 with 300 avalable from 1500 to 3500 just normal hopping up and WAY cheaper That said - it does look pretty cool doesn't it? |

yup, snakes and oil. you nailed it Fanie. if it was sooooo good, why is'nt eveyone on the bandwagon? I am somewhat ashamed this stuff is emanating from our shores. but in the long run,it is "your" dollars so -----. I will not be rushing out to buy a kit just yet. regards,Rod |
