| Post subject: | Manifold-to-manifold bolts |
I just ordered me a set of Remflex gaskets yesterday. Should help get rid of my vac and exhaust leaks. Problem is, I can't find replacement inter-manifold bolts anywhere. My local Chrysler dealer lists them NFA. Anyone see a problem with using studs instead of bolts? I'm 99% sure I won't be able to re-use the ones in there now as I made the current ones up myself (extended the threads on a pair of hardware store bolts.) and I'm certain I'm gonna have trouble just getting them out, let alone re-use them. What do you folks think? Thanks in advance, Nat |

Studs are fine. Infact, alot of the manifold stacks had the stud instead of a bolt on the passenger side of the carb. I like them better than the bolts personally, as they have better clamping ability that a bolt. Hence why head studs are a better solution than head bolts. What I (as well as many others I am sure) is use a chunk of D8 all-thread (on the driver side of the carb), and use nuts with lock washers on each end. Others can elaborate on the whereabouts of such an item, since I usually get mine from them, and as such, don't need to find it myself most of the time. ~THOR~ |
