So, here it is. I have an 84 D150 with the slant six. I hate the BS fuel electronic monitoring. On Saturday I am pulling the engine for a full re-ring. What can I do to avoid all the elctronic BS? |

Do a few searches on this board, there are plenty who have 'undone' the ESC/Lean Burn system, minimally you will want to obtain: a wiring diagram of the truck, a carburator to replace the late one (Got one barrel? Holley 1920/Holley 1945... Got two? Carter BBD/Holley 2280...), you will need a distributor from a 1973-1980 slant six vehicle (one from a later truck or car would help...make sure it has vacc. advance...), then just a bit of wiring to hook it all in. -D.Idiot |

I know that Mopar built a non Lean burn/ESA car til at least '82; My Dad had an 82 Gran Fury that was some kind of fleet/company car prior to us getting it; vac adv and all! and NO ESA! |

So a junkyard distributor would work? I know where I can grab one. Im upgrading to a 2bbl intake during the rebuild, so an aftermarket carb seems to be my best bet. Another question from a n00b. What is the purpose of the EGR? Exhaust gas regulation? What is it for, and can I just buy the plate that blocks it off? |
