Hello everyone, I went to start my car this morning and the engine was making a very prominant sucking and rattling noise. I've never heard a noise like this before, but it does sound kind of like a hot wheels car trying to get sucked into a vacuum cleaner. I'm thinking it's a major vacuum leak as the idle had been getting rather rough over the last week or so. Probably shouldn't have let it sit all weekend.
Car is a 1973 Duster with the 225 and a single barrel, automatic trans
Thanks

I like your description. Sounds like you might have a problem with a big vacuum leak, like you mentioned. Check your PCV valve, intake manifold nut torque, carb bolts, large hoses, etc...

Sounds like the pcv to me, mine sounds like a hamster having a good time on one of those wheels somtimes, other days its quiet as a mouse. Pull it out with engine running, if it stops theres your noise.
