Post subject:  Valve cover id question

I just swapped my block out to fix a nasty rod knock. I reused the head, but I used the valve cover from the new (junkyard) block. The old one had a (horsehair?) fiber filled breather cap that went in the oil fill hole, and a metal pcv. The new one was painted wrinkle black and has a filler cap like on my smallblock valve cover. It also has two holes for a pcv and a breather with a large hose to the air cleaner.

I was worried that the newer style cover (when did they change?) meant hydraulic lifters, but the pushrods don't have any give that would indicate a sprung oil chamber, plus the head that came off the block had adjustable rockers- surely ma mopar didn't spend the extra money on them in the hydro motors?

Anyway, it is kind of a trivial question but I'm interested if anybody knows anything.

Thanks
radar

Juice lifters didn't come out until '80. The valve cover changed in 1970 I believe and again for the hydraulic lifter engine.
