Does anyone know what auto trans came stock in a 74 valiant with a /6 and where is a good place to get a rebuild kit for it thats a little better than stock

define better than stock, are you looking for better reliability or do you want to race it? in either case, you may want to consider a shift kit, which if selected thoughtfully can do both.

Actually its a 904G. The difference between that and the 904A is the location of the starter in the bell housing and possibly first gear ratio. Interior mechanics are identical.

I have a 904 behind a V-8 in the Demon with a TransGo shift improver in it. My kit is the one for RVs. It speeds up the shifts without making them too harsh for my taste. The trans has been together for five years with no problems. I've been pleased with the results. :wink: It's been a while, but I think I got the shift kit and a rebuild kit from Summit Racing.
