I am running 12 deg at 700 and have 32 at 2300 all in and my car love it so

still have the same problem. I checked my timeing and it is my advance which is 28* @ 1700 rpm. I'm too sure how to fix this any ideas? thanks agian, ty |

my truck idles good starts good, but once you put it into gear it shutters and losses power. |

If you've already adjusted the idle speed and mixture I'd look for a vacuum leak and check the compression. When was the last time you lashed the valves? |

You might be over-advancing. I had this problem with my brother's 83 Dodge van with a slant six. Remember, trucks and vans are big and heavy. They like the advance to come in slower than on lightweigth abodies.thanks agian, ty First off, is this the stock distributor or one you swapped in/put together? Second, what is the base timing of your motor supposed to be? Try this: put your base timing back to TDC (thats right, 0 BTDC), then disconnect the vacuum advance line from the distributor and plug it. Now go drive your truck. If the truck accelerates better and doesn't shudder and lose power, then you are on the right track. Perhaps the most useful thing you could do to help us diagnose this problem for you is pull your distributor and post some pictures of the spriongs in it and tell up the numbers stamped on the governor and on the vacuum advance pod arm. While you are in there, make sure that the vacuum advance pod actually holds a vacuum and doesn't leak. |
