Hey does anyone think the stock 904 transmission is a good choice for a 318 swap with the appropriate torque converter? I want to put my 318 into my 64' valiant with the least cutting/grinding as possible. My ideal setup would be a slant six with a 4 speed and posi-track but i'm unsure as to how the stock clutch would hold up under stress of a hot six. I think what i'm really asking is how difficult is it to install a clutch/linkage into my car and whether or not it's worth it. |

The slant six and small blocks each have their own case for the A904 transmission so if you are to replace a six with a V8 you have to change the trans. Built properly they are an excellent transmission. Most people that built high output slants replace the clutch with something better. Spec Clutch can help. It's not very difficult to install the clutch pedal and linkage assembly, but it is a lot of parts to gather. Eventually my 3-speed column shifted trans will be replaced by a 4-speed. I'm fortunate my car was built with the clutch pedal and linkage. |

I sent a set of pedals and some other stuff to stephaniebrite a while back and don't think she is going to use it. Maybe you can PM her and get most of the stuff you need. |

would a custom hydraulic clutch from speedway motors (or whatever) be more precise and simple to install? If less fabrication is necessary i would prefer to spend money on a hydraulic system. |

Not any simpler. In fact more fabrication is required. Have you priced a hydraulic throwout bearing assembly? |

Correct. She is now looking for a set of F-Body pedals. She is selling her Dart soon hopefully, and will be slapping that 833OD into her Volare. PM her if you need a set o' pedals for an A-body.... or if you have a set of F-body ones that you can part with.~THOR~ |
