8) hey guys I'm looking for a set of .040 over forged pistons for my 225. I am spraying 100 hp with .50 off the head and a mild cam. I would like a set off the shelf, but any advice would be appricated.

Good luck. It took me almost 3 years to find a set, of off the shelf .040 forged pistons. Got them from a slant six racer, who did me a favor, so I would not have to rebore my block.

Most likely you will need to order from a manufacturer.

If you keep the tune-up right you won't need forged pistons at a 100 shot.

If you're tune-up is wrong forged pistons will just cost more to replace.

You could use 2.2 liter turbo pistons from an 86-90 dodge daytona with 198ci connecting rods while your engine is still under the knife... I bet that would be cheaper even though you gotta buy the rods and get them hardened or whatever

If you are going that route then get the new K1 rods stronger and lighter and really cheaper.

You guys are getting totally off track, here. SS was just looking for a inexpensive way to upgrade from a cast to a forged piston. His bores are good at .040.

We gave him the bad news right off the bat, off the shelf forged pistons are no longer available so you order custom or hunt around for some "old stock" someone has held onto.

The good news is the K1 / Wiseco deal but that is a bunch of money and you will have to "dust-out" the cylinders to 3.445 (from 3.440)
