 Post subject: Overcharging alternator
PostPosted: Thu Feb 14, 2002 4:36 pm
I have a 1967 soft top Cuda with a 3 speed slant six, 225.
Just replaced alternator and it is overcharging battery with engine running. I am in the middle of my first ever engine tune up.
Need to locate the ground straps referenced in a manual that may be loose or bad!? Or any advice on what else it could be or needs checking!
Thanks

Your right, the voltage regulator needs a good ground.
The v. regulator could also need replacing, some times they get "polarized" or shorted by the failed alternator and shoud be replaced when a new alternator is installed.
