I have an 83 dodge d150 that I'm going to take the lean burn system out of but I'm having trouble finding out what carb to get. I just want to stick with the 1 bbl. Any suggustions on what electronic ignition to buy also would be appreciated. I don't have alot of experience with this so I'm trying to teach myself as I go.

Do a search on this site, as this has been discussed in detail. You'll find loads of good info on the subject. Many favor the Holley 1920 as a replacement for the lean burn carburetor, but I have also heard that the old Carter BBS was good. As for the distributor, go to your nearest Napa and snag a pre-lean burn electronic distributor.

The easiest ignition system to retrofit to a lean-burn vehicle is the HEI ignition system. The only connections you have to make are to ground the HEI unit, attach the (+) feed for the unit to the (+) feed on the coil, and connect the unit to the distributor.

The best carb to get would be one of SlantSixDan's Holley Economster carbs. PM him and he can set you up. I would recommend a Holley 1920 or a Holley 1945.
Good luck!

I almost certainly have a brand-new carb to suit your conversion; send me a PM.

I should point out that the "Economaster" carbs i was talking about were a series of carbs manufactured by Holley in the late 70s/early 80s which were manufactured to higher tolerance specs and with slightly different design to maximize the potential for fuel mileage gains. These may not be available for your specific application, but are a good idea if one will work on your car/truck/whatever. Dan has both Economaster and non-economaster NOS carbs for sale, and can set you up with the best carb for your application.
