I have Clifford Street Rod headers, and they are split, 3 into 1, and 3 into 1 headers. If I wanted to install a T3 or T4 turbo, would it be ok to bolt it to the front header and leave the rear header alone? Or would the difference in exhaust gas flow be too much to work well? They'd be going into a Flowmaster reverse Y and 2-1/2" or 3" single tailpipe. Or do I have to install some kind of different exhaust manifold / header so that all 6 cylinders spin the turbo? |

I don't think that would work but who knows! I don't thing you would get that much out of the turbo that way. andrew wagner Quote:

I would not want to touch such a setup myself. You could get the turbo to spool up if it were sized correctly, but the turbine would have to be smaller than one intended to run off all 6 cylinders. They you would have to deal with the implications of very different amounts of backpressure between the cylinders. It's entirely possible that the front three cylinders may need different spark curves and possibly even different carb jetting (or injector pulse width if you're talking EFI). In essence, to get this thing straightened out you would have to tune it like it was two separate motors. Not worth the effort IMHO. dart270@geocities.com |
