Hello, I just bought a 1980 F body with air.

the car was in need of a heater core and the Dealer had the thing half apart when I bought it.. I requested that I pick the car up as it sat And I would put it back together.

Anyway.. I Need to know the vacuum Hose routing for the 3 vacuum motors that are on the drivers side of the heater box.

There are 3 colors, Red,Yellow, and Violet. Can someone post or point me to a link site that will have this diagram, or just tell me which color goes where?

This particuilar heater box should be the same design as all 1980 and newer cordorbas, diplomats and Gran furys, Maybe a caravelle if you are in canada...

Thanks for the help!

Greg

Greg
Red is to the hi/low & a/c - heat motor
Yellow is to the heat/defrost motor thru a restrictor
Violet is the vacuum supply from the engine. It connects to a check valve and the other side of the check valve is black to the engine.
Brown is to the a/c - heat & hi/lo
Dark green is to the rod side of recirc/outside air motor and has a "T" with a gray hose to the water valve.
Light green is to the other side of the recirc/outside air motor.

Well I have it all hooked up and no Defrost..

I even Tried switching the brown and red because w/o A diagram telling me which one is on the upper versus the lower it's confusing.

Still No defrost.

My yellow does not appear to have any restrictor in it.. no check valves or anything else either.

Well I had to rip apart the Heater box again anyway due to the fact the A/C Evaporator core was leaking.. So the problem to my low flow defrost problem was missing Insulation. a bit of insulation about 6" long had dry-rotted into dust. and The defrost air was escaping under the dash istead of going up to the vents.

you might want to try using industrial felt to replace that foam that crumbles when you look at it wrong. it will last much longer.

Ys. Sort of.. I Have it all back together.. I Used some Spare (leftover) weatherstripping / Foam that I had from the hardware store to fill a big gap in my house doorframe.. It worked good for both the house and for the Defroster duct Connection.

Thanks, Greg
