So my dart came with a complete super six set-up.I was thinking I could clean it up and install it for now while I save up for my economy build. The kit came with the 2 1/4 downpipe. My question is how much did you all pay for your single 2 1/4 exhaust when you switched to a super six? What kind of muffler did you use? Just want to know a general ballpark,so I dont get ripped off when I go in for an estimate! |

I just 10 days ago had a complete new exhaust system put on my '71 Dart. Custom-bent aluminised-steel headpipe ($150) and tailpipe ($80), a 2ΒΌ"-in, 2"-out Walker #21206 muffler (~$120ish), all new premium hangers and supplies, etc. Very careful, well-fitted pipework. With tax, out the door, it was a $600 job. I'm mostly quite happy with it, except I do get a resonance drone at 80 km/h. Not quite entirely sure yet if it's the pipe vibrating in response to engine vibration, or a sound wave phenomenon. I might consider adding a resonator to see if that will quieten it down. |

Canuck bucks. I wouldn't expect it to be too much different in greenbacks. |

I had mine installed by a local shop-- right around $200 incl. tax -- they put 2" at the exhaust manifold & ran 2.25(approx 18" was 2'') all the way back to the tail -pipe-- out the rear. The installer had more trouble matching up the muffler to fit ---. I'm not as specific as Dan but the work was very nice & has served well for the last 2 years. This is on a 1962 valiant with a stock 225 1bbl set-up-- no hot-rod-- Lawrence |

I paid about $280 for 2.25" pipe from the manifold the 3 year old Magnaflow muffler (think I paid around $90 for that) and 2" tail pipe. It only cost me $250 for the complete 2" system, but that was 8 years ago. |

I already had a Super Six down pipe attached to my exhaust manifold when I took my '67 Valiant in for the remainder of the 2 1/4" exhaust. With a Dynomax Super turbo muffler I paid $250 plus tax. |

I have the down pipe too, guess that will save me a few bucks? How do you like that Dynomax? I want a straight through muffler, with great flow and sound.Dont really mind if its loud, just not too loud.Any suggestions?(beside flowmasters, not my cup of tea) Thank you guys for the ballpark Ideas! |

The Dynomax Super Turbo is not straight through, but it flows very well, sounds good, but it isn't very loud. I do get a resonance at higher speeds, but it isn't loud enough to become objectionable. There would be less resonance if I had a 2" tail pipe instead of 2 1/4", but I like the sound.
Thank you guys for the ballpark Ideas! |

Generally the super six exhaust + muffler goes for $250-$300 installed. |

Had mine done at Hot Rod Scott's (Toronto Muffler), 815 Kipling. Most exhausts that sound nifty the first day sound too loud by the end of the second week. I will never use Flowmasters, and I will never again use a Magnaflow, on a slant-6 vehicle. |
