Hey guys,

My 67 Dart has the 225/904 Combo. It has 81,700 orignal miles, and me and the PO think the trans has never had a fluid change.I wanted to know what fluid you think I should use? Do you think it would be ok if I went synthetic? I drive it everyday as my main mode of transportation, and thought the extra m.p.g and h.p increase might help! What do you think?

See this post. Don't waste money on Scamsoil or other exotic-brand fluids. If you want super-premium fluid, get Mopar ATF+4 (not +3). Otherwise select a reputable brand of Dexron. Don't forget to drain the torque converter via its drain plug. New filter, of course. Adjust the bands while you're in there. If you want to do some upgrades, nice new pans with unwarped rails can be had from the dealer under p/n 52118 779AB, and they even include a spiffy magnet to catch metallic shavings. Whether you go that route or install the existing pan, save yourself a bunch of current and future hassle: Discard the floppy cork or rubber pan gasket that comes with the filter kit. Instead, from the Chrysler dealer get the really nice double-seal, reusable rigid pan gasket P/N 4295 875AC.
