Well its Christmas time and my daughter wanted to know what to get me.Has anyone tried the Cal Trac mono leaf springs?I want to put them on my 1978 Volare.I contacted them and they have a complete kit that includes Cal Trac bars,Leaf spring and Rancho 9 way adjustable shocks.Any of you guys running their complete rear package.I have seen nothing but good about their bars.Trying to get this thing done for Mopars at the strip. |

I don't think they'll mount up correctly. Mopar springs are asymetrical and I believe that GM springs are evenly divided front to rear. I could well be mistaken though. |

I have dealt with Calvert a few times. Service from Travis has always been top notch. I have had the Cal-Tracs on 2 different street cars and was very happy both times. I have friends who have used the complete set-up on some pretty fast cars and they have been very happy indeed. My buddy John Borzych has a '70 GTX that had SS springs on it. It would hook one run and spin the next. He put the Calvert setup on and the car started hooking every time. He has been as fast as 9:45 with it. The complete set-up will be pretty spicy price wise, but if you have a serious race car it will be the last money you ever spend on the rear suspension. |

'Zilla, Do you run yours with stock rear springs? I'm considering a set, but I like to turn corners and think the mono-leaf springs are a bit soft. |

Yes, Cal-Tracs will work well with stock springs. They did advise against using them with SS springs. |

Cool, I'll be using them with either stock springs or the MP oval track springs. Maybe both! |

I spoke the Scott from Calvert yesterday. He said the mono springs work just fine an the street and the car will proably drive better then the stock parts.I priced out the whole rear suspension package, bushings, hardware, springs,Cal Tracs and 9 way adjustable shocks and changed lower shock mount to eye type and shipped to my door was $863.00. Merry X-Mas Dad.I don't consider that bad. The best thing is they are proven and everything is matched to work to gether.Parts are in stock and will be sent out tomorrow.I told him that it's a street strip car and I do plan on going to Bonneville in Aug. with it and my only plans on change for that is lowering the car and changinging the wheels and tires. That is if I don't blow the thing up in Mopars at the strip in March. He told me they would help with the traction on the salt. Can't wait to get my motor repaired and back in and try this thing out again.I do have the bushings and spring pads from my car that I'm taking out if someone would like to buy the for cheep. They are Urethane PST.I think it cost me like $175.00 for them, just PM me. |
