The throttle(accelerastor) cable currently installed on my 72 Swinger Slanty is all frayed and I am afraid it will fail during operation.

I recently purchased and recieved another throttle cable(used) off ebay and it was originally on a 76 Scamp V8 car.I put them side by side and it seems the V8 Cable is the same length as the Slant 6 one,so im in good shape there. I checked part numbers online and all the searches only gave me 1 part number for both the V8 and Slant 6

What are the correct techniques and procedures for replacing this Cable?

Is it a difficult undertaking, and are there any tips or tricks to making it painless?

Nope. Don't know which catalogues you're looking at, but the slant-6 1bbl cable is considerably longer than a V8 cable.
