I have a 1964 valiant 100 I just bought and I would like to put a floor shifter in it. the car has a slant and a three on the tree. does anyone have a suggestion on what shifter I should use?? It would be used as daily transportation. |

I suspect your choices will be limited but your bigger problem will be clearance in the hump for the shifter mechanism. I attempted to do this on a '62 more years ago that I care to contemplate and gave up in frustration. If you have metal working and welding skills it's doable but it is not trivial unless the '64 has a lot more room in the hump. |

Recommend the Hurst Super Shifter 3 followed by Hurst Indy Shifter. Bullet proof and choice of Hurst levers to fit your wants. There are several outfits that make floor manual transmission tunnels for the A-body. Need welding skills to install and must be a stickler for detail in making the cut in your existing floor pan. (Don't want to cut the transmission mount cross-member.) |
