I have read in some old posts about putting vasoline in the oil pump? Or filling the filter with oil to get the oil pump to prime. Are you saying to pack the oil pump full of vasoline before I install it? If so, does the vasoline go through the oil filter? It would seem like it would clog the filter up? When they say about filling the filter, how do you do this with an upside down filter? Or do they have a remote mounted filter? Thanks again Rick rcovalt@innernet.net |

Rick, I always pack the pump by taking the cover off and filling up as much space around the rotors as possible. Make sure to put the cover on right side up, or you won't have oil pressure at idle. When the motor warms up, the Vaseline will melt. The filling the filter tends to get a little messy, but it will work too. Have fun! Dennis slantzilla@excite.com |
