| Post subject: | Long Rod Engine Build Question: |
Will the stock long rods hold up with a 12.5:1 compression ratio? I am building a Drag Motor and we are calculating a 12.5:1 compression ratio. I am planning on turning the motor about 5,600 RPM. There is a lot of knowledge on this board, please help. |

They should hold up until you get over 6500 rpm. After that the small ends tend to separate at times. |

A well selected and reconditioned set of 198 con rods will hold-up to 12 - 1 compression, I have used them in 300 HP Slants with-out a problem. DD |

I also have a set in my junk. They have held up well to as much as 180 hp worth of hose and 6500 rpm. DD Can't say the same for my KB pistons. |
