I want to sure grip mine , is the only way to know what's in it, to open it up? |

7.25" and 8.75" rear ends use bearing retainers at the ends of the axle housings, not C-Clips. The 8.25" rear uses C-clips. |

7.25 rear end suregrips or are they all interchangeabled? I've been told they are not. thanks, Mark |

Not quite sure what the question is... but the 7.25" is typically not a SG unit. I have installed the SG case into my 7.25" with no issues at all. It works beautifully.~THOR~ |

Just curious, I have grabbed 2 very nice sg units 7.25 and am looking at using either 3:55 gear or 3:90, do you have an opinion. Does the 3:90 rap out too quickly? I've heard the 3:55 still is pretty good for highway. |

3.23:1 is what I have found to be "best" for combination (city/hwy) driving. 3.55:1 will get the engine spinning pretty good at 60 mph (2500-2600 RPM depending on tire size), anything above 60, and your miles-per-gallon starts dropping fairly fast. 3.90:1 is 55mph max freeway. Otherwise you will experience that large drop in mileage, due to high RPM. At 60 mph (depending on tire size) you will be turning a little less than 3k RPM. If you could get an OD with the 3.90:1 you can probably get away with 60 mph without doing too badly on mileage. Ultimately, from what I have found, 3.23:1 with an overdrive is one of the best combos you can get. Gets you decent pep at low RPM (city) driving, but it wont kill on the freeway because of the overdrive. Decide what your main uses for this car are going to be, and build it from there.
