edit: I have a website now: www.tbiadapterplates.com I'm a CNC machinist and I made an adapter plate to put a GM TBI throttle body onto a Carter BBD 2BBL intake manifold. I had Jeeps in mind when I machined the plate, but it has recently come to my attention that some Slant 6's also used the Carter BBD. This plate fits on a Jeep/AMC 258, does anybody know if I need to make any changes/clearances for a Slant 6?

Interesting piece. If it fits the Jeep BBD mounting pad, it'll fit the Slant-6 2-barrel mounting pad (and the Mopar 273/313/318 2-barrel mounting pad, for that matter). The GM TB is a much better pick than the Holley junk Chrysler put on the 3.9, 5.2, and 5.9 in trucks from '88-'91. (Shutterfly isn't an image-hosting service, it's a print-selling business, and can't be used to host images for remote presentation such as on the board here.) |

That's a really interesting page. Too bad for the people at Howell that they took such delight in being such jerks about their adaptor plate. Perhaps if they hadn't, then Chris in Idaho wouldn't have had to go to the trouble. I'm tempted to buy one of these adaptor plates even though I don't have any current plans for a TBI swap, just for that reason alone.

I might be interested in one of these in the furture. I am interested in terofitting reliable EFI to a hydraulic slant to sort of build a injected hydraulic "modern" slant that Chrysler never did. I know TBI is inferior to MPFI or even BFEFI, but it is an interesting first step. |

You didn't break a rule — welcome on the board, by the way! — but you may want to post an ad here on the board in the "Parts For Sale" section. An actual price (I send you such-and-such an amount of money, you send me adaptor plate) would probably make you more friends than a pointer to an eBay auction. |

Looks very cool. One trick to using GM EFI electronics on a slant six is that if you are using a computer controlled ignition you can drop in a Lean Burn distributor and wire it up to a computer controlled HEI module. I did that on my Dart. |

7 pin modules are the jewel in the GM TBI system....they just need a real ECU to work with. |

You don't need the 7 pin HEI if you are using a Megasquirt II. The lean burn distributor should be able to trigger the megasquirt directly. There is a lot of offset on the throttle bores for a tbi to bbd adapter. Close to 1/2" if I remember correctly. Makes me think of a 2v to 1v adapter. I would think, making an adapter plate for the offy manifold would be a better investment. If you want MPEFI, the tbi body, without the injectors and regulator would make a very nice 2v throttle body. You could then also use a standard after market air cleaner with the Holley (5") opening. |

There's offset, but from these pictures it's nowhere near as severe as with a 2bbl to 1bbl restrictor, er, adapter. You know I'd never use a 2bbl-1bbl "adapter" because they're dumb, but I wouldn't have any qualms using this adaptor as pictured.
