I'm Hopefully going to turbocharge my slant six this weekend. and i had a couple of questions. has anybody ever used a Turbo Spec VF Rhb5 turbo before? i pulled it out of some 4wd Subaru. and does the smaller the turbo mean safer on the engine and easier to spool up. a friend of mine is gonna help me out with it |

Way too small a turbo. You'll have boost very soon, but it will choke the engine. The exhaust side will be so restrictive you'll show good intake boost, but make little power because of enormous back pressure. That turbo is mean for an engine 1/2 the displacement of a 225. |

well if its 1/2 the right size for a slant why dont you go twin turbo and have a realy unique car and shave .030 off the head just for go0od meashure |

that is why my turbo engine is taking so long, other than personal reasons. I want to do it right and I have collected great parts to Build it right.I know what I want and how to do this project. I cannot afford to just throw money at this and say lets go. But when my project is done I know it will have the performance I want. Thanks Ron Parker  It Aint Over Until I Win |

6.7L Cummins turbos are going for really cheap on eBay (around $150). They are coming off new Dodge Rams when they get full of soot and throw a code in the computer. Just clean them and they're as good as new! The electronic box scares most people away I think. All you have to do is remove it and plug two water ports. The you can manually adjust the VGT to wherever you need it for an early or late spool. Good for over 500 hp each and have a tunable exhaust housing (VGT). I've been discussing these over on the ford six site (in the process of turbocharging a friend's '68 mustang). The compressor maps are pretty close to a Holset HX35. These two are going on a 5.7L Hemi Ram. (I'm a Dodge guy at heart) Total invested to get them to look like this: $360 (bought, shipped, painted) If you're in the market for an inexpensive turbo, one of these might be the ticket!
