I have opportunity to pickup a /6 and 4 speed locally cheap. Was the 4 speed in these years ALL overdrive or only on the Miser packages?

I am after the engine for the head, and if equipped, the 2 bbl intake. I would love to luck into a 4 speed OD, but I am not sure how to identify the OD units. The combo is bolted together, complete cost is 75.00.

So in summary, were all 4 speed transmissions in 1982 Rams OD, and if not, how can I tell if it is OD?

Some trucks got the NP-435 4 speed...

Before going into the whole diatribe, the truck A-833OD will have a longer tailshaft (it is similar to the B/E body A-833 boxes), you will need to look at the articles section and also look at some very old posts that Dave Clements wrote up on mods to get a truck A-833OD to fit in his Barracuda...

good info.
I printed off the tech article, I will read through it and have my info ready.

Either way, I am going to pick it up, as I want the spare engine, to build on the side. The trans is a bonus.

there is also an article in the tech archives on www.bigblockdart.com I printed that out on how to make the shifter work.

Well, by all appearances, this is a OD transmission. The bearing retainer, which I presume to be the "snout" is 5.1? something, dirty. It has the longer housing, the article worked great to identify.

I will take some pictures, as I have some other questions.
