Hey guys! Is there a good way to short the stock
Ballast resistor out so the vehicle still looks
stock? I put a 12V ignition system (Pertronix)
on my vehicle and want the stock look for shows
and what not. Has anyone done this?

Thanks

Most of the ballast resistors are open on the back side. You can just remove the resistive coil and solder in a jumper wire.

BTW, did you also get a coil that specifically does not require a ballast resistor? From your first post on the Petronix you stated the instructions told you to wire the 12 volt feed to the Petronix unit infront of the ballast resistor. Sounds like the Petronix system does not have any current limiting built in, so the ballast would still be required unless you also got a coil that had it built in. Remember the ballast is necessary to limit the curent flow through the coil at low speeds so you do not over heat it. The Petronix ignition is just an electronic switch that replaces the points.
